The steadfast and attentive seeker who aspires to realize his aspiration, with a sharp and present mind, observes and realizes the phenomenon of arising and the phenomenon of the passing of sensation.

He keeps in touch with it with the understanding of its impermanent nature. In this way, he does not allow an intense, disproportionate, sticky desire to arise in response to it: he responds neither with craving for a pleasant sensation nor with repulsion towards an unpleasant sensation. He remains equanimous based on the understanding of impermanence.

A sensation is a physical feeling or perception resulting from something that comes into contact with the body or happens in it. The vision of a green meadow arouses sensations, the taste of the roast arouses sensations, the caress of a loved one arouses sensations, the scent of a pizza arouses sensations, the sound of the firefighters' siren arouses sensations, just as, anxiety, depression, fear, lust, tension, desire, love, envy, or worries all manifest as sensations.
